Roseville suburb close to modern conveniences
Foothill Junction may have what everyone is looking for: shops, restaurants, green spaces, good schools and a sense of community. “We’re in a pretty convenient location,” says Wanda Lopez, a broker with eXp Realty of California Inc., who lives in the neighborhood. “I feel safe here when I’m out walking my dog, too, and there’s a mix of families and retirees who live here.”
Ranch- and Craftsman-style homes on large lots
Ranch-style homes, some L-shaped, from the late 1980s and early ‘90s sit on wide, sidewalk-lined streets. Mixed in are Contemporary Craftsman-styles with Spanish-style influences like tile roofs and stucco exteriors. Common features include well-maintained yards with either xeriscaping or grass with driveways leading to two-car garages. Home sizes vary from 1,100-square-foot three bedrooms to 2,700-square-foot five bedrooms and lots range from 6,000 to over 9,000 square feet. Depending on those sizes prices range from $470,000 to $780,000.

Picnics and sports at Wanish Park
Neighborhood greenspaces are within walking distance of most residential streets. Toward the east, Wanish Park has a playground and a full basketball court. Soccer players can practice their free kicks here, and there’s a barbecue at the covered picnic area. Less than a mile north, Silverado Oaks Park has bucket swings on the playground and a basketball court, plus a field for baseball or softball. Paul J. Lunardi Park, adjacent to Silverado Middle School, is where folks can stroll along a decomposed granite trail and watch wildlife in the native wetland.

Pizza and brews at Hooch’s Sports Bar
Locally owned restaurants and shops sit in the neighborhood’s eastern end. Hooch’s Sports Bar and Grill Pizzeria serves specialty pies, along with calzones and sandwiches, paired with wines and local, hand-crafted brews. Trivia and karaoke nights are hosted here as well. Huckleberry’s Breakfast and Lunch (known locally as Hucks) offers family-sized portions of chicken and waffles and shrimp po boy inside a rustic setting. Grocery stores include Bel Air at the nearby Brickyard shopping center and Save Mart. Department stores, like Ross Dress for Less, and big-box stores, such as Walmart, are found further east across Interstate 80. Boutiques border coffee shops in downtown Roseville, 2 miles away.

Interstate 80 sits about 6 miles east, which leads 20 miles southwest to downtown Sacramento, while Interstate 5 (also known as the West Side Freeway) is roughly 18 miles southwest. Many rely on their cars to run errands, but Roseville Transit buses traverse the neighborhood’s main thoroughfares, including Junction Boulevard. During rush hour, commuters can expect a 30- to 40-minute drive into Sacramento. “Traffic is pretty bad here,” says Lopez. “Folks will drive 65 miles an hour in a 45 mile an hour zone. Sometimes it sounds like they’re racing, and there’s even been five wrecks in front of my house since I moved here.” Designated bike routes and sidewalks line residential streets here as well. Sutter Roseville Medical Center is about 5 miles east, while Sacramento International Airport is about 21 miles southwest.
Movie nights in downtown Roseville
“There’s something going on in downtown Roseville every weekend,” says Lopez, “like pumpkin patches and other family events.” Friday Flicks takes place at Vernon Street Town Square and the Mahany Fitness Center, which is just northwest of the neighborhood.
