Fairview Southwest
From condominiums to French Country-style estate homes
Buyers can find condominiums, three-bedroom ranch-style homes, and luxury homes with more than 5,000 square feet. “Buyers in Fairview Southwest work in Saint Paul as well as Minneapolis. They’re both less than 8 miles away, so it’s a short commute,” says Rehovsky. “Another key benefit is that the schools are close to home. Brimhall Elementary is right in the middle of the neighborhood.” Condominium homes are adjacent to Interstate 35 West on the neighborhood's north side and offer abundant amenities, including libraries, elevators, tennis courts, community gardens and indoor pools. One- and two-bedroom units ranging from 800 to 1,400 square feet have recently sold from about $115,000 to $200,000. Mid-century ranch-style homes range from about $300,000 to $700,000, depending on the extent of recent renovations. Custom French Country-inspired estate homes adjacent to the city of Falcon Heights' Community Park have recently sold for around $1 million, while well-maintained tri-level contemporary homes from the 1960s have recently sold for around $640,000.Roseville Public Schools offer free lunches
Minnesotans “really support their public schools,” says Rehovsky. “While there are notable private schools, most are closer to the Twin Cities’ downtown areas.” Fairview Southwest students can attend class in the A-minus graded Roseville Public School District, which provides free lunches. Students can start their education at B-graded Brimhall Elementary, which receives A-grades from Niche for the diversity of its students. Roseville Area Middle has a B grade from Niche. It offers programming for gifted students and the Roseville American Indian Education program that promotes cultural awareness and academic advocacy. Roseville Area Senior High is A-graded by Niche. About 45% of students participate in Advanced Placement courses, and the school reports a 90% graduation rate.Immediate highway access and 20 miles from MSP International Airport
The neighborhood sits immediately southeast of the cloverleaf interchange of Interstate 35 West and Minnesota State Highway 36. While most residents drive cars in and outside the neighborhood, commuters can find Metro Transit buses on Fairview Avenue North. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is 20 miles south. With mild traffic, drivers can reach it in under 15 minutes. It has two terminals and is a hub for Delta Air Lines, Sun Country Airlines and SkyWest Airlines.City parks, lakes and golf courses surround Fairview Southwest
The city of Falcon Heights' Community Park balances the natural beauty of wild grasses and Japanese maple trees with playgrounds, sports fields and an ice rink. Recently built Midland Gardens Park includes public art, pollinator flower gardens, walking paths and a playground. University of Minnesota Golf Course and Como Park Golf Course are two of many public courses in the greater Twin Cities metro area. While Como Park, Zoo & Conservatory is 3 miles southeast, it is a powerful attraction for families and kids. Says Rehovsky, “Lake Como is the closest lake to Fairview Southwest. It is truly a year-round destination. In summer, they offer theatre productions at the lake’s edge every night. In winter, they offer warming pavilions and ice skating. In fact, Lake Como hosted speed trials for various Winter Olympics throughout the 20th century.”Long-standing shopping and dining favorites are close to home
Rosedale Center is Roseville’s largest shopping center and statewide destination. With more than 125 retailers and restaurants, its anchor stores are JCPenney, Macy’s, and Von Maur. Residents of Fairview Southwest can start their mornings at Happy Monday & Company Coffee. Mi-Sant Kitchen and Bakery is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In addition to freshly baked bread and pastries, they offer veggie bowls, Banh Mi sandwiches and a few vegan options. Also in the parking area surrounding Rosedale Center is the long-standing and reservation-only Baldamar steakhouse. Its décor grabs attention with unique midwestern art, long walls of wine racks and exacting food presentation. Lunds & Byerlys Roseville is a Midwest grocery chain offering extensive services and added-value departments that offer wine, spirits, and household specialties.Locals pick up fresh food at the Roseville Farmers' Market
The Roseville Farmers' Market, held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, brings fresh food from local vendors to the community from May through October. It's part of the Saint Paul Farmers’ Markets group, offering markets in communities around the area since the 1800s.Bell Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate and has been Minnesota’s official natural history museum since 1872. It is held in trust by the University of Minnesota. It’s a local destination for engaging events, from performances by the Minnesota Youth Symphony and seasonal student camps to solar observations and seasonal bird counts that welcome participation by local volunteers. “Bell Museum is exceptional,” says Rehovsky. “It is on par with European museums regarding their collections of great masterpieces, but they’re also a national leader in biodiversity and zoological research.”
The Minnesota State Fair is held annually around Labor Day, and the fairgrounds are about five miles from Fairview Southwest. The fairgrounds also host other events throughout the year, including the circus, car shows and shopping events for various home, fashion and other items.
