McCarrons
Beaches and boats at Lake McCarrons County Park
Summer days are frequently spent at Lake McCarrons County Park, where people from all over Roseville go to relax on the beach and swim in the water with lifeguards on duty. The lake is stocked with various types of fish. There’s a fishing pier to cast a line or a boat ramp to head out on the water. A large grassy area sits between the parking lot and beach where dozens of picnic tables are available to enjoy a lunch while looking out at the lake. A reservoir connects to the north side of the lake in Villa Park with small pedestrian bridges that go over the water. The park is popular in the winter, where people go to skate and play hockey on the ice rink and take breaks in the warming house.Mid-century houses on and off the water
The neighborhood is made up of mostly single-family homes built between the 1940s and ‘70s. The leafy suburban streets are lined with ranch-style, bi-level and Colonial Revival houses. The median lot size is a quarter of an acre and most properties have fenced backyards with mature trees. The same style of houses surround McCarrons Lake. Some are close to the water, while others are tucked back behind mature trees. These lakefront houses all come with their own boat docks and range from $650,000 to $850,000. Off the water, houses sell for around $250,000 to $550,000.Roseville Area High prepares students for college
Public school students attend Central Park Elementary, which earns a C-plus grade from Niche. They’ll go on to Roseville Area Middle School, which gets a B, and Roseville Area High School, graded an A. The high school is ranked by Niche in the top 20 high schools for college preparation. Students have the option to take free college courses at the high school. And according to GreatSchools, nearly half of all students are enrolled in Advanced Placement courses. Juniors and seniors may choose to attend Northeast Metro 916 Career & Tech Center, where they can earn college credits and obtain industry certifications.Stores and restaurants on Rice Street
Rice Street is the neighborhood’s thoroughfare for shopping and dining. Retail options include a Cub grocery store and Highlight Grocery, which sells Asian produce. Some national retail brands are also easily accessible, such as Family Dollar and Walgreens. There are also a few regional shops with unique treasures, including My Thrift Store and Pawn America. The area has several fast food and local restaurants. There are several Asian-inspired restaurants, such as Thai Street Market, Asian Fusion Kitchen, Nepali Kitchen and Friends Café (Burmese food). People also enjoy hanging out at McCarron’s Pub and Grill, an Irish-themed pub with indoor and outdoor seating, open until 1 a.m. every day.Commuting to Central Minneapolis and St. Paul
Residents live right by Minnesota Highway 36, which can be taken 10 miles west to Central Minneapolis. The highway intersects with Interstate 35 East, which commuters can take for a 6.5-mile drive south to St. Paul. That highway convenience comes at the cost of higher noise levels in the areas immediately adjacent to those two highways. The interstate keeps going another 6 miles south to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
