A historic walkable haven
One stroll through Skinker DeBaliviere, and it's easy to see why this neighborhood has become so desirable in west St. Louis. “It’s a great neighborhood with a fantastic location, rich history, and beautiful architecture,” says Rachel Boxdorfer, resident and Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Alliance Real Estate. “I always say you’ll be gone longer than you planned when you go on a walk as you’ll run into neighbors who truly care about their community." Skinker DeBaliviere began developing following the conclusion of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair in nearby Forest Park, and today, residents can walk to the vibrant areas of the Delmar Loop to the north or the expansive green space of Forest Park to the South.
Head to “The Heart of St. Louis”
Residents are within walking distance of Forest Park, also known as “The Heart of St. Louis.” The park was opened in 1876 and receives 13 million visitors a year. At over 1,300 acres, it is officially bigger than New York’s Central Park, and visitors will find so much more than just expansive green space. One can browse the halls of art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, while animal lovers can head to the world-class Saint Louis Zoo. Other amenities include golf courses, tennis centers, a greenhouse, and a municipal theatre called “The Muny.” “We consider Forest Park our backyard,” says Boxdorfer. “It is one of the great features of the neighborhood that we can walk to the park.”

The Loop also pays homage to famous St. Louisans like musician Chuck Berry and actor John Goodman at the St. Louis Walk of Fame. Fresh produce and groceries can be found at United Provisions, while Snarf’s Sandwiches is a quaint sandwich shop in the middle of the neighborhood. St. Roch Catholic Church serves the area.

In my immediate area, there are lots of job openings at our city's park, Forest Park. There seems to be lots of job openings at the museums and zoo, which are located in the park. There are also lots of available jobs in the restaurant and retail industries. Generally speaking, most people in this area work in an office either downtown St. Louis or in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. I feel that this area has a lot of job opportunities, you just need to do some searching and be willing to travel.

The crime in the area could be better. We often have crimes, such as cars being broken into, bikes being stolen, etc. I have only ever heard of someone being mugged once. Although it is not the worst, it is definitely not the best.
