Causeway Isles
Relaxing on Treasure Island or playing at the tennis club
When residents want to get out of the neighborhood for some fun, they drive west to Treasure Bay Golf & Tennis Club. The city-run public recreation center, which features a large beach for swimming and community gatherings, offers a variety of athletic activities, fitness and education classes and youth camps. Others go all the way to Treasure Island to spend the day on the shore or make a splash in the ocean. Those who want to enjoy sand-free fun visit the Maynard A. Duryea Bay View Park on the mainland. Visitors can play a game on the tennis courts or climb around the playground equipment.Waterfront homes with high price tags
Prices in Causeway Isles range from $1 million for a ranch home with a circular driveway to almost $4 million for a five-bedroom house. “A three-bedroom, two-bath, one-car garage Florida rancher is the typical Causeway Isles home,” Price says. However, future residents can find Spanish Mediterranean estate homes featuring ornate facades and decorative driveways. The newer homes often feature modern designs with simple, white facades and creative window designs. In addition, coastal and midcentury-modern styles fill the neighborhood. Some homes have neutral siding colors, while others stand out with bright exterior colors to match the beach atmosphere. Most lots have limited yard space, but the private boat docks and water views make up for it.“That’s the beauty of living in Causeway Isles: There are no fixed bridges, so you can get out into the Intracoastal Waterway with any type of boat," says Price. “Being on the west side of St. Petersburg, you’re minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. And the Intracoastal has so many places with restaurants and bars. Some days, you’ll see hundreds of boats on the sandbars. The neighborhood is ideal for avid boaters and fishermen.”
Treasure Island has all the fun
Causeway Isle residents are always steps away from exciting events. Treasure Island puts on multiple annual events each year. Locals of all ages head to the shore for the Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival every January to fly their kites or learn how to handle a stunt kite. The Sanding Ovations also draws a crowd every November. People visit to see sand sculptures created by expert artists, hear live music and make memories. Those who don’t want to wait for an annual event can have fun every second Friday of the month with Bandigo — a blend of bingo, trivia, music and gameshow fun.Beach bites at R Bar and unique cuisine at Alésia's
Because Causeway Isles has every street filled with homes, locals travel off the island when dining out. Treasure Island has classic beach spots like R Bar or VIP Mexican-American Cuisine. Other hungry residents might drive to the mainland to visit Alésia Restaurant for French, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. The Wheelhouse earns their gastropub status with lunch items and craft beers. Locals who want a classic bar setting visit Dead Bob’s. Anyone who wants to stock up on groceries can visit the Publix on Treasure Island or the Walmart in the Pasadena Shopping Center.Pirates wrestle for district titles at Boca Ciega High
Kids on Causeway Isles often attend Azalea Elementary School, which gets a B from Niche. Students usually transition to the C-rated Azalea Middle School before attending Boca Ciega High. The Pirates girl’s wrestling team continues to grow as they win more district titles. Students not interested in sports have multiple clubs to choose from, including Drama Club, Spanish Honor Society or Art Club. Niche gives Boca Ciega High an A-minus. Parents can also choose from the nearby magnet, private and Catholic schools.Driving to the mainland on Central Avenue
Residents of Causeway Isles rely on their cars to get to school, the grocery store and parks. Central Avenue connects the neighborhood to Treasure Island and the mainland. Locals don’t have sidewalks to use, so they bike along the road with other vehicles. Neighbors in the area look out for each other with the community watch program in place.
