Short drive from San Bernardino

The 210 Freeway runs along the top of California Gardens, making it easy for locals to hop on the road and go anywhere they want. “There’s been a lot of growth in recent years,” says Enrique Esparza-Martinez, Jr., real estate agent with Realty ONE Group Homelink and neighborhood local. The Lytle Creek Floodway separates the residential part of the neighborhood from industrial properties in the southwest. Students in the area attend San Bernardino Unified School District. Locals can find most shopping essentials and restaurants within 5 miles of home.

Colorful ranch-style and Spanish Revival homes

Even with wide roads and large driveways where residents can park multiple cars, homes in California Gardens sit on long, narrow lots that are about 5,000 square feet. Some neighbors prefer to keep their lawns neatly trimmed, while others have decorative gardens with many trees, bushes and flowers.

Many of the homes in California Gardens are single-family homes built in the 1950s that can go for as low as $300,000 or as high as $475,000. Homebuyers can find a colorful three-bedroom single-story ranch-style home that is just over 1,000 square feet for $450,000. For people who are looking for some variety, the neighborhood also features terracotta Spanish Revival homes.

Short drive to Renaissance Marketplace

While most of the neighborhood is residential, shopping and restaurants are a short drive away. Across the street from the middle school is Westside Plaza, where residents can pick up a few essentials at El Super. Locals can also go to the Renaissance Marketplace to find the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market. The Renaissance also offers many dining options, including some chain restaurants like Olive Garden. Esparza-Martinez, Jr. notes that Septembers Taproom & Eatery is a popular spot that has both classic and unique takes on American food, such as their Septembers Mac N’ Melt. The Renaissance Marketplace is 5 miles away from the neighborhood, as are Target and Walmart. Home Depot is within 3 miles of the neighborhood.

Close proximity to San Bernardino Mountains

The San Bernardino mountains fill the horizon of California Gardens. San Bernardino National Forest lies in their peaks and is 25 miles away, with hundreds of miles of hiking trails and over 40 campgrounds for people to explore on the weekends. For everyday adventures, residents do not have to travel quite as far. Anne Shirrells Park sits just outside of the neighborhood and has a playground for kids to burn off a little energy after school. A quarter mile loop borders the park where locals can walk their dogs.

The 210 Freeway and public transportation

Residents can easily access the 210 Freeway, which will carry residents into most major California cities, including Los Angeles. Omnitrans, which services the entire San Bernardino Valley, has routes in the northern and southern parts of California Gardens that take people between San Bernardino and Rialto.

Industrial properties

There are several industrial properties in the western part of the neighborhood. These include J.B. Hunt Lassen Yard, where truck drivers can park their vehicles for local deliveries, and Holliday Rock, which makes asphalt, aggregate and concrete. These locations may provide employment opportunities, as well as higher traffic in the area. Both Rialto and San Bernardino have higher air pollution, which is partially caused by emissions from warehouses like the ones in California Gardens.
