Lakeside Village's shopping district is concentrated around Ocean Avenue
The commercial district in Lakeside Village is made of three streets: Ocean Avenue, Junipero Serra Boulevard and 19th Avenue. These three roads lead to some of the neighborhood's most beloved dining and shopping spots. Ambrosia Bakery has been a neighborhood staple since 1988, offering cookies and cakes by the slice. Dinosaurs is a sandwich shop that is quite popular with locals for its Vietnamese sandwiches, spring rolls and specialty drinks. Luchos is another favorite, serving fusions of Yucatan and American-California flavors.
To the west of the neighborhood is the Stonestown Galleria, a sleek collection of shops, restaurants and entertainment centers. Just to name a few, it includes Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar and the Regal Stonestown Galleria movie theater. Mystic Garden Florist provides beautiful floral creations for every occasion. The bustling business activity is due in part to the supporting efforts of the Friends of Lakeside Village. "A few years ago, we were really worried when businesses were closing in the shopping corridor, but with all of our initiatives over the last few years, it's really started to grow," says Kath Tsakalakis, a co-founder and longtime resident.
