Why Mount Davidson Manor is a good place to live

Mount Davidson Manor offers suburban living in the southwest San Francisco area. One of the city’s original streetcar suburbs, the neighborhood is close enough to commute downtown but still feels removed from business districts, skyscrapers and entertainment venues. It’s sought after for its tree-lined streets, hillside views and roomy, early 20th-century homes. Residents describe it as quiet and scenic, with minimal congestion compared to busier parts of the city.

Detached homes offer privacy, space and views

Mount Davidson Manor is unique in that most of its homes are detached, offering residents more privacy and larger lot sizes than the average San Francisco property. The community was built by famous local architect Fernando Nelson in the 1920s. It has pastel-colored Mediterranean Revival-style homes, many of which have been fully restored and renovated. “A lot of these homes have large lots that are set back from the street with beautiful landscaping,” says Realtor Shu Pu of Century 21 Masters, who has more than a decade of experience working in the Bay Area. Homes in the community typically feature a first-floor garage with living space above and large, street-facing windows in the living room that might have unobstructed views of the city.
