While it may be less than two miles from downtown San Francisco, Noe Valley is not overshadowed by its larger neighbor to the north. Omnivore Books on Food, an independent bookshop specializing in cookbooks and Noe Valley Pet Company are both owned by local Celia Stack, who speaks fondly about the community she finds among her customers. “We stock new and vintage books on food and hold author events. People get really excited to see a famous chef or author giving a talk and a lot of them go to both stores. It’s a very tight-knit community. I love it because people are so friendly and nice and respectful of our employees. It’s a real sort of neighborhood in that way,” she says.

Noe Valley's modes of transportation
Noe Valley is very walkable and even has a pedestrian-only district on Sanchez Street. Commuters and day-trippers are about 15 miles from Oakland and about 16 miles from Berkeley by car. Major roads include San Jose Avenue, which gives way to Interstate-280 to the south. Traveling eastbound, drivers can access US-101 to reach San Francisco or San Jose. Subway stations and public buses can also connect travelers around the neighborhood and the San Francisco International Airport is about 12 miles away.
Films and farmers' markets
Residents can look forward to lots of events throughout the year. For instance, The Noe Valley/ Sally Brunn Branch Library is a great place to attend a film screening, take an origami workshop or listen in on a story hour. There is also the Noe Valley Farmers’ Market, which is held every Saturday in the town square down on 24th Street. Noe Valley's beautiful parks
Glen Canyon Park contains over 60 acres to explore and includes hiking trails and a large recreation center. Along the upper terrace at Douglass Park, locals can walk their dogs and catch views of San Francisco while the lower terrace includes a playground, athletic courts and picnic areas.

I love that it's quiet, feels very safe, great food and a short walk from BART in the mission. 24th Street is amazing and full of wonderful restaurants, I definitely recommend moving to Noe Valley.
