Close to nature and highways
Within sight of Santa Teresa County Park’s grassy hills, Chantillery is a South San Jose suburb known for its lower home prices and proximity to nature. "It’s a nice, tucked-away area of San Jose,” says Ryan Nunnally, a Realtor with Keller Williams Luxury International who’s sold homes in the area for 15 years. “The price point initially drives people here, and then they realize there are hiking trails nearby, with shopping and dining also just minutes away.” The 1,673-acre Santa Teresa County Park borders the neighborhood’s southwestern edge, and nearby houses of worship include St. Stephens-in-the-Field Episcopal Church and New Creation Church. Highways 101 and 85 are 2 miles away, providing convenient access to the rest of Silicon Valley.

The 1,673-acre Santa Teresa County Park brings the community together with regular programs, archery lessons and guided hikes. “The park is heavily used, but most of the people who use it live in the surrounding communities,” says Ruben Suarez, a Senior Park Ranger with Santa Clara County Parks. The park’s 17 miles of trails are popular among hikers, cyclists and equestrians, and residents can book picnic sites for small gatherings. History buffs can learn more about the area at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch, a preserved farmhouse in the park. On the park’s northern edge, the public Santa Teresa Golf Club has a par-71 course and driving range, while at the 1-acre Avenida Espana Park in Chantillery’s east, kids can burn off some energy on the playground.
