Evergreen Valley High School, within the East Side Union High School District, has an A rating and is ranked among the top STEM schools in California. The high school opened in 2002 and expanded in 2007. Students can take advanced biotechnology courses at the nearby Evergreen Valley College, and the Village Square Branch of the San Jose Public Library is a half mile from most homes.Village Grill and Silver Creek Community Markets
Fowler is purely residential, but The Square is nearby for when people want a night out. Village Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering covered-patio seating and rustic wooden booths inside. The Crab Bay serves up Cajun-style seafood in a themed environment with fishing nets and other nautical items on the walls. Early risers grab a seat at the counter at Evergreen Coffee Co. for bagels and lattes, and Silver Creek Community Markets is a local chain with made-to-order food, some of it organic. Many residents can walk to Montgomery Hill Park, an 8-acre green space with a 1.2-mile walking trail. Falls Creek Park is a small pocket park located in the neighborhood with a small playground and paved walking paths. The larger Fowler Creek Park has picnic areas and tennis courts. “It’s nice being up against the hills so there’s a lot of greenery, trails and open space that people take advantage of,” Jepsen says. Hikers check out the nearby Joseph D. Grant Park, located 7 miles up Quimby Road. The 10,000-acre park offers an extensive 51-mile trail system. Mountain biking is permitted on most of the park’s trails, and dogs are welcomed as long as they’re leashed.
