Suburban streets grace the San Jose hills in Hidden Glen South
Hidden Glen South is a residential neighborhood that backs up to the meadowy hills of South San Jose. Located at the precipice of rolling slopes that lead to Almaden Valley, it’s suburbia with a small dose of the countryside. But residents won’t sacrifice a quick commute time to live here — it’s less than 10 miles from Downtown San Jose. “It’s a nice little pocket with a mix of older homeowners and young families. It’s friendly and safe, but also private in terms of its location,” says Realtor Johnny Heckenberg of Coldwell Banker Realty, who has been working in San Jose for nearly 20 years.
Hidden Glen South homes cluster near quiet cul-de-sacs and tree-lined curves with mountain views.

Homes in Hidden Glen South were largely built in the late 1960s and ‘70s. Ranch styles, split levels and Traditional homes are the most common home designs here. The streets are quiet, free of through-traffic and lined with leafy trees that burst with color in the springtime. Some homes back up to the hillsides, offering spectacular views of nature. “Some people’s backyards open right up to the hillsides,” Heckenberg says. Single-family home prices range from $1.5 million to $1.8 million. “You get a little more house for your budget, a little more bang for your buck, compared to places north of here,” Heckenberg says. Safety is also part of the appeal — the neighborhood gets a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, compared to 4 nationally.
