Columbus Park connects to the meticulously manicured Heritage Rose Garden. The park, currently listed as closed by the city of San Jose, served as an encampment for people experiencing homelessness. San Jose officials were in the process of clearing it out as of September 2024.Raymond Bernal Jr. Memorial Park has a playground, a grassy picnicking area, a baseball diamond and plenty of large, shady trees. Golfers can tee up at San Jose Municipal Golf Course, a public, 18-hole facility about 2 miles north of the neighborhood.
Adjacent highways like Interstate 880 and convenient public transportation
Pedestrians and cyclists can easily navigate the neighborhood. Hyde Park is bordered by State Route 87, Interstate 880 and San Jose Mineta International Airport. Commuters can drive about 15 miles to Palo Alto and Menlo Park, where many tech companies are headquartered, and about 5 miles to North San Jose. Buses stop at the Civic Center Station for those who prefer public transportation, and the green light rail line takes passengers northwest to Mountain View and southwest to Campbell. The San Jose transit station is about 2 miles south, where residents can hop on the Amtrak or Caltrain.Important to know
