Central, commuter-friendly San Jose neighborhood
Hyde Park is a residential San Jose neighborhood that flies under the radar despite being right in the middle of everything. “Not a lot of people know about it,” says Michelle Elliott, Coldwell Banker Realtor and longtime San Jose resident. It’s small; people think about it mostly as part of Japantown. The houses and trees are little older. It’s backed up to the freeway, but for whatever reason, the sound travels away from there; it’s sheltered from it. It’s the cutest little part of town.” Hyde Park is about 2 miles north of downtown San Jose and Japantown; it’s a short walk or drive to one of the city’s largest urban parks and it’s bordered by a major highway and a light rail line, making it a convenient spot for commuters. “You’re pretty close to North San Jose, which employs a lot of tech workers. Nvidia, Microsoft and Amazon all have offices there,” says Jeff Hansen, a broker with eXp Realty who has worked in real estate in the city for more than 30 years.
