Majestic has an easy Silicon Valley commute and top Berryessa schools

Majestic is a suburban neighborhood in the Berryessa district of San Jose, known for highly-rated public schools and a short distance, about 15 miles, to Silicon Valley. “I would say commute and schools are the two biggest wins for homebuyers,” says Julie Wyss, broker at KW Bay Area Estates with over 20 years of experience. “The tech industry boomed, and they improved public transportation, and so Majestic became a convenient place that offered an easy commute to all the tech hubs in San Jose. Many of the buyers are millennials or people who are starting to have families, and Berryessa schools are considered very desirable.” Professionals in the tech industry and those working in the city benefit from easy access to the Valley Transportation Authority light rail, BART metro stations and major highways such as U.S. 101.

Family-friendly Berryessa living with suburban homes and townhouses

Majestic is dominated by 1970s and 1980s ranch-style homes, many of which have front-facing garages. The neighborhood also includes a smaller collection of two-story New Traditional houses. Properties sit close together with small yards and private driveways, but most are neatly kept with green lawns and tidy gardens. Neighborhood streets are lined with trees and sidewalks, with many end in quiet cul-de-sacs. Single-family homes are typically between $1 million and $2.1 million, though inventory is pretty low. Townhouses can sell from $700,000 to $1.2 million. The area has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4. “This is a nice area for families. There’s a nice community park, and there’s daycare for people who work full time,” Wyss says.

Students can access top-rated Berryessa and East Side schools

Students may start at Majestic Way Elementary School and continue to Sierramont Middle School, both of which are part of the Berryessa Union School District and earn an A-minus grade from Niche. Piedmont Hills High School rates an A. The school is in the East Side Union High School District, providing career and technology courses in construction technology and advanced manufacturing. Both public school systems offer interdistrict and intradistrict transfers through school choice.

Public parks and nearby natural preserve offer many outdoor options

Berryessa Creek Park is at the heart of the community, offering sports fields, a playground and lush green spaces. The 17-acre Cataldi Park provides more sports facilities, including a splash pad, courts for tennis, basketball, sand volleyball and handball. About 5 miles east, Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve offers expansive views of the Santa Clara Valley, and many people come here to catch the sunset. The preserve has 9 miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding, including the Bay Area Ridge Trail.

Public transit options and distance to Silicon Valley and the Bay Area

Majestic is near several major highways, including U.S. Route 101 and interstates 680 and 880. The community is about 15 miles from Silicon Valley and 50 miles from San Francisco. Valley Transportation Authority provides public light rail transit, while the Berryessa/North San Jose BART subway station connects residents to the Bay Area. The San Jose International Airport is approximately 10 miles away, and the Regional Medical Center is about 5 miles south of the community.

Shopping and dining options in Milpitas

Majestic is primarily residential, and locals often go to Milpitas for shopping and dining. There is a Target and a Seafood City located about 1 mile northwest of the neighborhood. The Great Mall is about 3 miles away, offering a variety of retailers, department stores and restaurant options. The mall also has a movie theater and Trader Joe’s. Many Asian eateries are located south of the area, including Everest Cuisine, an Indian place, and Pho Dao Restaurant.

Berryessa has family-friendly art festivals and night markets

Usually held in late spring, the annual Berryessa Art Festival celebrates local culture with art exhibits, crafts, live performances and family fun. From April to October, on Friday nights, residents can head to the San Jose Flea Market for the Berryessa Night Market, featuring vintage and artisanal sellers, live music, local brews, and food trucks.
