The Rodeo Drive of Silicon Valley
Santana Row is a vibrant mixed-use commercial and residential development and a major Silicon Valley destination for shopping, dining and entertainment. Jeff Hansen, a local Realtor with eXp Realty who has more than 30 years of real estate experience, says that in this neighborhood, residents “can walk right outside and get coffee, watch a movie or have a drink.” Construction of “The Row,” as it’s called by locals, finished in 2002. It received praise for its modern design, convenient layout and shopping lineup. A handful of offices in this area house major tech enterprises, such as Experian, NetApp data services and Splunk, a Cisco-owned software company. Community is fostered through events and activities hosted along Santana Row’s main street and Frank M. Santana Park. “This area is over 20 years old and continues to be very desirable,” Hansen says. “People come from all over the Bay Area just to be here.”

Potential homebuyers can purchase a unit in one of three condo residences within the Santana Row development: Misora, Levare or Santana Heights. “The main attraction of Santana Row is that you’re living above everything you want or need,” Hansen says. “It’s great for when you want entertainment or to meet up with friends for a night out without having to drive.” Throughout the rest of the neighborhood, residents can find Spanish-inspired villas in private communities, modern contemporary apartment complexes, Mediterranean-style townhouses and single-family homes with ranch-style and midcentury architecture. Single-family homes here range from $1.6 million to $2 million, while most condo units and townhouses sell between $1.3 million and $1.5 million.

Touring the Winchester Mystery House
Santana Row sits adjacent to one of San Jose’s biggest tourist attractions: the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester – the widow of William Winchester of Winchester Rifles – purchased the 45-acre property in the late 1880s and built ornate Victorian and Gothic-style additions to the mansion until she died in 1922. Winchester’s continuous building resulted in a massive maze-like layout with bizarre features like stairs that end in a ceiling, doors that lead to nowhere and randomly placed trapdoors. “The Winchester Mystery House is definitely something to check out – it’s rumored to be haunted, and so Sarah Winchester building onto the house to keep ghosts at bay,” Hansen says.
Residents can find year-round events and celebrations at Santana Row Park, like Yoga on The Row every Saturday morning and the Sips & Sounds of Summer Music Series, a free outdoor concert series hosted every Tuesday evening in August and September. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, locals can get into the holiday spirit by celebrating Spirit of The Row each Tuesday in December.
