Alameda County 94577
20th-century homes with a few contemporary options
The neighborhood’s streetscapes are lined with primarily mid-century and contemporary ranch-style and Craftsman-style homes built in the late 1940s. A few larger, more contemporary homes built in the early 2000s are scattered throughout the neighborhood. Short driveways lead to garages, and while lot sizes can run a bit small, there's still plenty of room for modest front yards with landscaping or extra-wide driveways. Sidewalks line the streets, and residents can walk to nearby schools. Prices range from $650,000 to $980,000.Meet-ups at Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline Park and downtown events
Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline Park hosts several meet-ups, including ones geared toward area walkers, cyclists and dog owners. The park also holds disc golf tournaments throughout the year. Residents can also head a few miles out to downtown San Leandro for annual happenings like the San Leandro Cherry Festival. Taking place in June, it’s considered the longest-standing city event. It features cherry-themed festivities, including a pie baking and pie eating contest, plus a classic car show.Shopping at West Gate San Leandro and Davis Street dining
West Gate San Leandro is one of the go-to neighborhood shopping centers off Davis Street, with big box stores like Walmart, Home Depot and Ross for Less. It also has the popular Drake’s Brewing Company with a lineup of local craft beers plus light bites. Costco is also located along Davis Street, offering groceries and everyday essentials. The quaint Coffee Time is a favorite neighborhood spot with morning menu items like breakfast tacos, while just outside of the neighborhood and further along Davis Street are more dining options. This includes Brother’s BBQ, known for its kimchi fried rice and JL Kitchen, a classic Chinese restaurant.Shoreline parks and community sites with athletic facilities
The expansive Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline is a waterfront park located along the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay. It offers looped hiking trails with bay views and a disc golf course. It’s also a popular spot for birdwatching. Thrasher Park is located on the other side of the neighborhood, with a playground, a baseball diamond popular for local Little League teams and a skate park. The 4-acre Cherry Grove Park is another neighborhood recreational site with open green lawn spaces, tennis courts and a playground. Less than a mile south is the San Leandro Marina, with boat docks and a fishing pier along the bay, while next door is the 9-hole Marina Golf Course.Interstate 880 access and the San Leandro BART Station
Right in the middle of the neighborhood is I-880, which leads to places like Oakland, about 10 miles away. The highway also connects to Interstate 80, a main route to San Francisco. The San Leandro BART station is conveniently located at the neighborhood’s western edge for traveling or commuting by light rail. The Oakland International Airport is less than three miles northwest for domestic and international flights. With the airport right next door and I-880 running through the neighborhood, it does get noisy. But, it quiets down closer to the water. The Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center is less than two miles south.Public schools with dual enrollment classes
Students may attend Greenleaf Elementary School, which gets a C-minus rating from Niche, followed by the C-plus-rated Madison Park Academy, which serves 6th grade through 12th grade.
