Riverview West
Nearby highways and access to neighboring Garden Grove, Westminster and Anaheim
Jose Samano, a real estate agent with Real Brokerage Technologies, notes that the location is one of the area’s biggest appeals, as residents can quickly get to jobs or go shopping. The neighborhood is also fairly walkable, and while that's true for Santa Ana, as a whole, most residents still get around by car. “This part of the city starts to blend in with Garden Grove since it’s so close,” says Kevin Le, Realtor at Triumph Real Estate Solutions. "Its vibe varies from the rest of the city.” Garden Grove borders Riverview West, with its city center just 2 miles to the north. CA-22 also runs just a few blocks north of the neighborhood, providing a route to nearby locations like Westminster, 5 miles west, Anaheim, 7 miles north, or Huntington Beach, 10 miles south. Interstate 405 is also within a few miles of Riverview West, providing the 35-mile path to Los Angeles, home of the closest major international airport. Residents head 8 miles south to the John Wayne Airport for domestic or North American travel.Restaurants and shopping on harbor Avenue
Riverview West is full of local businesses. Harbor Boulevard, on the neighborhood's eastern edge, is one of the primary retail corridors, but restaurants are scattered throughout the city. Santa Ana and nearby Garden Grove are home to diverse populations, leading to an extensive array of Latin American and Asian restaurants. Tito’s La Especial and Pho Cali Restaurant are popular spots, but there are many taquerias and pho restaurants to explore. Residents can also head to popular chains like Popeyes and Dunkin Donuts or go to Santa Ana Centre, home of the neighborhood’s Northgate Market. For more options, the Garden Grove Plaza is 3 miles north, offering another Northgate Market, Target, local restaurants and more.Modern Traditional and ranch-style homes in Riverview West
Riverview West was primarily built between 1970 and 1990, giving the neighborhood an established yet modern feel with its Modern Traditional homes and 20th-century layout. “The neighborhood is a little older, so it has a great treeline,” says Samano. “Riverview West has a very nostalgic look. It’s pure Americana. You can picture your kids riding their bikes on the sidewalk.” Single-family homes are generally Modern Traditional or ranch-styles, selling from $690,000 to $1.2 million. “Generally speaking, it’s more economic than some other Santa Ana or Garden Grove neighborhoods,” says Samano. “You get more bang for your buck, and you get a bigger house and lot.”Heritage Park and Rosita Park
Two parks serve the neighborhood. Heritage Park is a simple green space located in southern Riverview West. A popular place for walks or runs, the 6-acre park also offers a baseball diamond, playground and fitness court. In northern Riverview West, Rosita Park occupies 8.6 acres. In addition to common park amenities like a baseball diamond and playground, the park is also home to a pool and Salgado Community Center. At Rosita Park, kids can enroll in summer swim lessons or youth classes and clubs. . The neighborhood is also just a few blocks west of the Santa Ana River, hence the neighborhoods name, and there are trails that run along its banks.Events sponsored by Riverview West Neighborhood Association
Riverview West Neighborhood Association encourages participation in the many clean-up days aimed at beautifying the neighborhood and encouraging residents to take pride in their lawns. These culminate in the spring and summer Most Beautiful Home and Garden Competition, Most Beautiful Yard Awards and the ?Home and Garden Tour. Residents also gather to enjoy summer concerts in Heritage and Rosita parks or to celebrate the Fourth of July with a neighborhood party. An Autumn Fair, Winter Holiday party and Chinese New Year Celebration help warm up the year's colder months.Kids attend Garden Grove Unified Schools
Despite being located in Santa Ana, the neighborhood is served by the Garden Grove Unified School District. Kids can start school at R.F. Hazard Elementary School, which Niche grades A-minus. James Irvine Intermediate School, graded A, also serves the neighborhood. Kids can finish up at Santiago High School, which earned an A-minus. The school offers a variety of extracurriculars, such as The Purple Press, a student-led online news site.
