Historic homes in Santa Ana Triangle
As denoted by the name, Santa Ana Triangle is a triangle-shaped neighborhood, only three blocks wide at the bottom and one block wide at the top. The western and southern edges are mostly businesses, while the residential parts are the central and eastern parts of the neighborhood. The residential areas have many apartment buildings and a selection of homes from the early 20th century. “My buyers moved there because it’s a historic house. It was from the family that built the first brick building in Santa Ana at the beginning of the 1900s,” says Realtor Simona Battaglia who works with Coldwell Banker Realty and has nearly a decade of experience in the area. Many of these houses have curb appeal, with well-maintained exteriors and landscaped lawns, some with palm trees. This is because of the Mills Act, which gives tax credits to owners of historic homes who agree to maintain their property per the preservation standards. The architecture includes Mediterranean homes, Craftsman bungalows and Victorian homes. Craftsman bungalows range from $850,000 to $1 million, while Victorian homes range from $750,000 to $950,000. “The house was a million dollars, so it wasn’t affordable, but there are more expensive parts of Santa Ana,” Battaglia says. One of these is Floral Park, the neighborhood next door, where a Craftsman home can go up to $1.5 million.
