A calm Santa Ana neighborhood
Despite its name, Shadow Run is a neighborhood in sunny Santa Ana. It’s small and on the quiet side — mostly midcentury homes on walkable urban streets cut off from through traffic. Located just three miles from downtown Santa Ana and six miles from Costa Mesa, the centrally located haven offers close access to ample retail and entertainment when residents tire of their daily routines. There’s also shopping in the neighborhood itself, home to a strip mall with a grocery store. Despite being a neighborhood in a big city, Shadow Run has a calm, low-key vibe secluded from tourists and big events.

Midcentury houses and newer condos
Shadow Run’s walkable streets often end in cul-de-sacs, which help cut down on traffic and noise. Many homes feature gates and fences for extra privacy as well as landscaped yards with palm trees and shrubs. Homes in the neighborhood mostly have midcentury architecture, the majority being ranch-style houses, some with stucco facades and tile roofs for a Mediterranean feel. “People move there because usually it’s affordable or they have family nearby,” says Realtor Noemi Romero, who works with RS Prime Properties and has over two decades of experience in the area. Ranch-style homes range from $850,000 to $1 million. In the western part of Shadow Run, the Santiago Springs Community has condos with prices ranging from $300,000 to $600,000. Amenities include a gated entrance, a community pool and patios or balconies, which appeal to many. “The condo went fast on the market. It tends to be a desirable area,” says Realtor Micaela Solis who works with Berkshire Hathaway and has over five years of experience in the area.
