Sunwood Central offers single-family homes and shopping in Santa Ana
From grocery stores and shopping to cute one-story houses and sweet treats, Sunwood Central has it all. This laid back, residential part of Santa Ana is where mostly one-story houses with blooming floral bushes are surrounded by fences made of chain link, wrought iron and stucco. Most of the houses here have some sort of garden with plants like palm trees and shrubs, and street numbers here are painted onto the sidewalks in front of each house. The neighborhood also has its own shopping center, small, laid-back park and it’s located right next to one of Santa Ana’s public high schools.
Lower single-family home prices than most of Orange County
By Orange County standards, Sunwood Central is relatively affordable. “If you’re wanting to live in Orange County and you’re on a budget, Santa Ana would be a great place to move now,” says Matt Tilley, a southern California Realtor known as the British Bloke. Home prices in Sunwood Central tend to linger between $700,000 for a single-family home and $1.2 million for a quadruplex. You’ll see one-story houses with basketball hoops in the driveway, brick-lined front door walkways and sidewalks that make it easy to go from one neighbor’s house to another.
Tech-focused coursework at the McFadden Institute of Technology
Children who live in Sunwood Central have the option of attending public school through the Santa Ana Unified School District. Kids living in the neighborhood are assigned to Washington Elementary School for kindergarten through fifth grade, McFadden Institute of Technology for grades 6-8 and Saddleback High School. If you’d rather go the private route, older children can enroll in nearby Mater Dei High School, a Catholic college preparatory school known for its athletic programs.
Segerstrom Triangle Park and Memorial Park provide nearby green space
On the south side of Sunwood Central is Segerstrom Triangle Park, a neighborhood green space that’s a great place for dog walking or even just laying out in the sun. Up the road is the 17-acre Memorial Park, which has basketball and handball courts, a ball diamond, a playground, picnic tables, a pool that offers swimming lessons and a stage. The pool is scheduled to be completely redesigned by the city as part of a master planning process.
Stores and sushi at Bristol Warner Village Mall
Sunwood Central also has its own shopping center. It’s called Bristol Warner Village Mall, and it’s where you can find the El Super supermarket, a Metro by T-Mobile store, Starbucks, a 99 Cents Only store and an outdoor furniture retailer. There’s also the Santa Buffet & Grill, a relaxed buffet serving fruit, lo mein and sushi, and La Michoacana Premium, a local ice cream place. There’s also Boba Junkie, where you can satisfy your strongest boba cravings.
Freeways give a short trip to Irvine
Sunwood Central is located on the south side of Santa Ana, west of the 55 freeway and north of the 405. Irvine is about 5 miles away, Anaheim is 12 miles away and Los Angeles is 38 miles northwest
