Sprawling subdivisions near Santa Ana Pueblo Tamaya Indian Reservation
Santa Ana Pueblo is a Tamaya Indian Reservation along the Rio Grande and Interstate 25, about 20 miles north of Albuquerque. The community owns two nearby golf courses and the Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel. Residential streets immediately outside the reservation carve into the hilly terrain west of the Sandia Mountains. “People are drawn to it because of the openness and the views. The subdivisions are spread out, so you have gorgeous views of mountain tops and desert,” says Terriane Morrison Everhart, a qualifying broker and partner with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Las Cruces. “It’s a quiet area, and it’s super picturesque. It’s well-maintained, and the streets are beautiful.”
Between two PGA-recognized golf courses and the Placitas Open Space
Two public scenic golf courses offer views of the Jemez, Sandia and Sangre de Cristo mountains on the west side of the community. The Twin Warriors Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course built around 20 ancient dwellings and activity sites. It hosted the second Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Cup in 2022. The adjacent Santa Ana Golf Club hosted the 2009 PGA Professional National Championship.
About 2 miles away, Coronado Historic Site is the location of the Kuaua Pueblo. This ancient settlement, believed to date to around 1325, was discovered by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado during his Southwest tour. The village is believed to have been settled around 1325. It was eventually abandoned and rediscovered in 1930, and guided tours of it are offered today. On the other side of Santa Ana Pueblo, the Placitas Open Space consists of a shooting range and trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
The pueblo’s Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel
The Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is immediately south of the Santa Ana Golf Club, and it encompasses a 26-lane bowling alley, a comedy club, a 21-and-up lounge and several restaurants. Its gaming floor includes over 1,300 slot machines, 17 table games and the state’s first sportsbook, complete with a stadium feel and a sports bar.
Santa Ana Golf Club’s Prairie Star Restaurant and Bosque North
The Prairie Star Restaurant — located on the grounds of the Santa Ana Golf Club — serves upscale New American cuisine in a century-old adobe with original vigas and an elaborately painted fireplace. Its seasonal menu includes dishes like whipped goat cheese ravioli and a local bison burger, while a prix fixe menu is offered on a weekly basis. Bosque North is one of a few Bosque Brewing locations throughout New Mexico. The brewery crafts its own beer, vodka and gin, which are served with casual options like burgers, sandwiches and street tacos on an outdoor patio with rugged mountain views. A cluster of grocery stores that includes Albertsons Market, Walmart Supercenter and Sprouts Farmers Market is roughly a mile south of the Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel.
Pueblo-style homes with acreage that rarely come on the market
Earth-toned, stucco, Pueblo-style homes with driveways and garages blend into the sandy lots surrounding the reservation. Homes rarely come on the market; only two sold around Santa Ana Pueblo in the first half of 2025 at prices between $750,000 and $870,000. Both came with lots larger than an acre.
Morrison Everhart says she sees interest in the area from those who want more room. “Families are putting value on having space between neighbors and room for kids to run and venture around,” she says.
The Indian Education Department supports Indigenous high schoolers
Children in Santa Ana Pueblo may start their education at W.D. Carroll Elementary School, which serves K-3 and receives a B grade from Niche. They may then attend fourth through sixth grade at C-rated Bernalillo Elementary School. Otherwise, they may enroll in Placitas Elementary School, which earns a B-plus, for kindergarten through sixth grade. They may then move forward to the Spartan Learning Academy, which receives a C-minus grade and serves seventh and eighth graders. Bernalillo High School scores a C-plus and offers a career pathway program in medical sciences, in which students learn career-oriented skills through problem- and project-based assignments. The Indian Education Department supports Native American students, who make up almost half of the district’s student body.
New Mexico SR-313 and Interstate 25 connect to surrounding cities
New Mexico state Route 313 runs through the community, connecting it to others, like Algodones in the north and Bernalillo, about 4 miles south. Interstate 25 also crosses Santa Ana Pueblo, leading toward the center of Albuquerque, about 20 miles to the south, and Santa Fe in the north. The New Mexico Rail Runner Express stops about 3 miles from the community at the Sandoval County station on its way from Belen to Santa Fe and vice versa.
