Taking advantage of Santa Maria’s park system
At 40 acres, Preisker Park is the largest recreational space in the city. The park is a nesting place for Lawrence's Goldfinches and is home to over 100 varieties of trees. Residents visit Preisker Park for games in the open field, disc golf and the accessible walking path. The grounds also contain three playgrounds, including a replica of the famous Santa Maria ship. Along the community's northern border is the Santa Maria Levee Trail, where some locals can see views of the valley right from their homes. Grogan Park is a smaller gathering spot with walking paths and open spaces. North Preisker Ranch Park rests next to one of the neighborhood's schools; locals can use the tennis and basketball courts when the school is not in session. Athletes head to Atkinson Park and Oakley Park for the sporting courts and fields.
