Avondale offers access to the best of Savannah, Georgia
To Savannah locals, Avondale is known as the small eastside neighborhood with streets named after states. To the community’s west, the historic city buzzes with tourists and activity, while to the east, cattails grow in quiet marshes along the Wilmington River. Avondale offers easy access to bus routes and major roads, so you can quickly reach both areas, and one of Savannah’s largest commercial corridors sits just south, making errands a breeze.

Housing spans older homes and new builds
You can find a mix of one- and two-story homes in Avondale. Many have pops of color, like bright doors, shutters and fresh coats of paint. The neighborhood includes a mix of 20th-century housing and new construction, often built to complement existing historic styles. “That’s an area that’s starting to see some redevelopment,” says Carol Anne Hazelman , a real estate agent with Keller Williams Coastal Realty who has over a decade of experience selling in Savannah. “It’s mostly relatively affordable infill construction.”
Minimal Traditional and ranch-style homes typically range from the mid-$100,000s to the high $300,000s, with houses needing work on the lower end and turnkey 20th-century homes or new construction at the top. Two-story homes with traditional, symmetrical architecture can range from the high $300,000s to the mid-$500,000s. Rentals are also available.
