Close to Savannah's historic downtown district, Starland District
Just two and a half miles south of Savannah's historic downtown district, mere blocks from the hip Starland District, close to multiple Savannah College for Art and Design buildings, Memorial Health Hospital and the Hunter Army Airfield, Bingville is literally in the middle of it all. “I think the biggest draw is its nice central location. It’s close to everything. And it’s really affordable, compared to nearby neighborhoods that tend to run a little more expensive,” says Wynn Martin, a Realtor with Eighteen O'Two Realty, LLC who sells throughout the Savannah area.
Residents of Bingsville can head to Diamond Food Mart for daily essentials.
Head to Abercorn Street and Starland District for shopping
While shopping is limited within the neighborhood, residents have many options close by for weekly errands. They head south to the shops near Abercorn Street and West DeRenne Avenue to pick up groceries at Publix or Fresh Market and get everything else they need at Family Dollar, located off Montgomery Street within walking distance of most homes. For dining, residents have their pick from many nearby locally-owned restaurants. Island Breeze is a favorite for its authentic Jamaican dishes like Akee and Salt Fish and Curry Goat, and just a few blocks north, restaurants offer Japanese, Chinese, and Venezuelan cuisines.
Picturesque streets lined with midcentury bungalows
Most homes in Bingville are compact Craftsman-style bungalows from the 1930s to 1950s, with cross-gabled roofs and big covered front porches. They sit on petite, grassy lots surrounded by tall, mature oak trees. Residents adorn their front yards with flower bushes and shrubs; backyards often contain small patios. Most homes don't have garages, but some have carports, and for the rest, the street is roomy enough for parking. Sidewalks are abundant and lead to nearby restaurants and parks. Prices range from $235,000 for 1,100 square feet to $410,000 for 1,500 square feet.
