Secluded and quiet, but close to all the action
Sixteen Acres is a neighborhood located in the far southeast corner of Springfield and has a rural-like feel that sometimes leaves those unfamiliar with it with the impression that it is quiet and isolated. However, this southern Massachusetts community is more like the key that unlocks the rest of New England. "It's affordable, compared to nearby neighborhoods, and it's centrally located to everything — Boston, New York, Connecticut," says Ann Turnberg, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty who has been selling real estate for over 35 years and is a long-time Massachusetts resident. "You've got the highways, the train station, and so many direct flights out of Bradley these days." Turnberg says she is seeing an influx of transplants from Manhattan and Boston move to Sixteen Acres, looking for more space and a slower pace. "They want to get out of the city but still be close enough to enjoy the amenities, plus have access to everything else in New England," she says. "It boils down to quality of life, and you get a good quality of life in Sixteen Acres."
