Reynolds Heighs is a rural community for commuters to nearby cities
Bordered by farmlands and winding rivers and creeks, Reynolds Heights is a rural community between Greenville and the Shenango River Reservoir. Once known for its thriving industrial park, today it's primarily a bedroom community for professionals interested in living a simpler life after working in surrounding metro areas like Pittsburgh or Youngstown. “It’s an extremely rural, small town,” says Marissa Foster, an agent with Keller Williams Realty. “People come here to be close enough to get to the city but far enough away to lead a slower-paced lifestyle with smaller schools and lower taxes.”
Reynolds Heights residents have plenty of retail options at Walmart in Greenville.
Deep lots and mid century homes, including ranches, bungalows and Capes are all common in Reynolds Heights.

Mostly midcentury homes with a few newer designs
Laid out in blocks that stretch from 10th to 26th streets, residential zones begin just south of the Reynolds Industrial Park. Most lots are long rectangles of half an acre or more, and mature maple and pine trees line the streets. Most residences are midcentury-era Cape Cods, split levels and ranch-style homes ranging from the low $100,000s to the mid-$200,000s. “The age means that it’s harder to find houses with more than one bathroom,” says Foster. “So when something more modern goes on sale, it gets picked up quick.” The northeastern side of Reynolds Heights has some 21st-century homes on larger lots, but large developments are practically unheard of. “Now and then, you’ll see a builder’s sign in a yard,” says Foster. “But no more than a handful a year.” The prices for these newer houses can be anywhere between the mid-$400,000s to the low $500,000s.
Classic colonial homes are plentiful in the "newer" areas of Reynolds Heights.

Small local schools with heavily involved teachers
Two schools serve the area: Reynolds Elementary School and Reynolds Junior/Senior High School, both of which have a C-plus from Niche. The reputation of the school’s wrestling team unites the community for sporting events, while the students benefit from heavily involved educators. “The teachers are phenomenal — they’re connected to everyone,” says Foster. “Your teacher was your mom’s teacher, or she knows the whole family or she’s a third cousin. You get a level of individualized care for each kid.”

Lots of options for fishing, hunting and camping
The surrounding area has ample opportunities for outdoorsy locals. “We’re perfectly located for anyone who likes the hunter, fisher or camping lifestyle,” says Foster. “There’s access to camping sites and public game land all around here.” The Kidd’s Mill Covered Bridge provides some history for the area, while the Reynolds Drive-In shows modern films in a retro style. Hermitage’s Buhl Park has 270 acres of green space, including miles of walking trails, an outdoor pool and a free nine-hole golf course.

Dining and shopping opportunities just outside of the neighborhood
Outside of the industrial park, Reynolds Heights is mainly residential, with most residents traveling to the Hermitage Hills Plaza for retail and other surrounding towns for entertainment and restaurants. Muscarella’s Café is one of the area’s most popular spots for authentic Italian. A stop light outside lets locals know how long they’ll wait to be seated: a green light means “Come on in,” while a red light means “It’ll be a minute!” Options for groceries include the Dollar General in town or the Aldi, 6 miles north in Greenville.

Low local traffic and direct routes to surrounding metro areas
Pennsylvania Route 18 goes north-south through the western end of the community, providing straightforward routes to Youngstown, 30 miles southwest, and Pittsburgh, 80 miles southeast. Both are typical drives for working locals. “People go as far as Pittsburgh to commute for work — some for Youngstown, but not as many,” says Foster. “Ohio people tend to stay in Ohio, and Pennsylvania people tend to stay in Pennsylvania.” When it comes to local streets, Foster says Reynolds Heights is quiet. “There’s no traffic,” she says. “The stoplights start blinking yellow at 9 p.m.”
Reynolds Heights homes are on a grid with large lots and plenty of space to enjoy country living.

Nighttime farmer's markets and July fireworks
Greenville Heritage Days are held every July and include rides, food vendors, traditional skill demos like blacksmithing, a scavenger hunt and a fireworks display to celebrate the festival’s end. Held monthly from July through October, Hermitage Night Market invites local farmers and crafters to sell their wares as the sun goes down while surrounded by food and live entertainment.
