Join the adventure in Benan Venture, where residents enjoy a convenient location and plenty of nearby amenities to explore. “It’s close to the interstate and there’s lots of shopping in that area too,” says Joni Swapp, a local Realtor with Long Realty Company. “It’s really just a nice little spot.”
Homes were built as far back as the 1970s and as recently as the early 2000s. They are mostly manufactured with a few stucco homes mixed in as well. Home sizes are typically between 1,100 and 1,400s square feet and lot sizes are between 4,000 and 6,000 square feet. “You’ve got mostly mobile homes and a lot of older homes that fall more into the mid-to-lower price range,” Swapp says. “So there’s a lot of affordable housing there and I’d say the average is probably between $300,000 and maybe $325,000.” Covered carports are a common amenity, with a handful of two-car garages too. And don’t let the desert heat fool you. Residents may not have lush green lawns, but there are plenty of native flowers and cacti to put to good use in your front yard and brighten things up.
Benan Venture students can attend J. Robert Hendricks Elementary School, which received an A minus rating from Niche and is known for its annual fundraiser event, the HUE Run, which encourages the participation of its students and the surrounding community to raise thousands of dollars every year that goes toward school equipment. Flowing Wells Junior High School received a B plus rating from Niche and has a MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) club dedicated to problem-solving with an emphasis on engineering. Sahuarita High School received a B rating from Niche and offers a variety of CTE courses to its students.
Get some fresh air at Pima Prickly Park, a 9-acre desert park where the native cacti and succulents are joined by walking trails, benches and tables for an afternoon picnic. The neighborhood also offers access to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop and over 100 miles of paved paths for biking, jogging, skating and horseback riding. The northernmost tip of the Rillito River Park can also be accessed in Benan Venture. The park extends to follow the river for miles to the southeast.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, swing by Jimmy’s Pita & Poke, a family-owned and operated restaurant that’s focused on fresh ingredients. Try one of their pitas, salads or poke bowls and enjoy the preservative-free flavor of a fresh, healthy meal. Follow your sweet tooth to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a vintage-inspired dining experience known for, of course, its creamy custard and juicy steakburgers. Grab a drink from Caps & Corks, a beer and wine shop offering libations from around the country while also giving Arizona breweries the extra attention they deserve.
If you’ve been bitten by the shopping bug, Orange Grove Mercado Shopping Mall is the place to be for everything from Sprouts and Petsmart to Guitar Center and Michaels.
Benan Venture residents have convenient access to Interstate 10, making it an easy drive 11 miles southeast toward Downtown Tucson and 18 miles south to the Tucson International Airport.
