Several public recreation spaces are nestled among the suburban streets. Amenities include a water park, dog parks, playgrounds, athletic fields and disc golf courses. There's also a private country club and a public golf course. Just south of Arnold Airforce Base, residents go boating on Woods Reservoir. Folks like to swim and enjoy the cascading scenery at Rutledge Falls and Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park, which is the site of a Native American fort that was built between 80 and 550 AD. Temperatures are average for the region, with wintertime lows dipping just below freezing and summer highs over 80 degrees.

The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in neighboring Manchester

The neighboring cities are hotspots for live music. "Tullahoma itself doesn't have much of a party life, but people have no problem going to Nashville for live music," Koziol says. Manchester hosts the annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which attracts some of the world's biggest musical acts. Entertainment options within the city are limited. "Sporting events at Tullahoma High are a big deal, especially baseball and football games," Koziol says. "People get very invested." Beechcraft Heritage Museum has multiple hangars full of vintage aircraft that represent the history of the Beech Aircraft Corporation. The neighboring city of Lynchburg is home to Jack Daniel's Distillery, which holds tours.

Commuting to Huntsville, Chattanooga and Nashville

Tullahoma Regional Airport is primarily for public use, so residents take commercial flights out of Nashville International Airport. "The regional airport is really popular among local pilots and parachuters," Koziol says. "You'll be driving to the grocery store, and you'll see someone dropping out of the sky." Tullahoma is between three larger cities. Huntsville is about 60 miles southwest via Winchester Road; Chattanooga is about 76 miles southeast via Interstate 24; and Nashville is about 77 miles north via Interstate 24. "Folks who live here commute to all three," Koziol says. Tullahoma does not have access to public transportation, so residents depend on cars. According to FBI crime data, violent and property crime rates have declined rapidly over the past five years. They align with national averages and are below state averages.
