Hunter Ranch
Neighborhood in Vallejo, California
Solano County 94591
Cul-de-sacs of single-family homes and gated condo community
Cul-de-sacs have streetlights and wide streets on an incline. Homes have short driveways, so some residents also use street parking. Compact yards typically contain one tree per front lawn. New Traditional homes are common; some have Mission Revival elements, like tiled roofs. Prices range from about $450,000 to $785,000, depending on size. Condos and townhouses between $450,000 and $475,000 are clustered in the neighborhood’s southwest corner, while those ranging from $530,000 to $630,000 are in the gated Tiara subdivision.CTE pathways at Jesse Bethel High
Nearby public schools are part of the Vallejo Unified School District. Students may attend Wardlaw Elementary, rated B-minus on Niche, and Hogan Middle, rated C-minus. Jesse Bethel High, rated B-minus, offers Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways in biomedical science, law and multimedia.Between Gateway Plaza and Redwood Plaza
Hunter Ranch is nestled between Gateway Plaza, Vallejo’s main shopping destination, and the smaller Redwood Plaza. Gateway Plaza is a sprawling outdoor shopping center with franchises like Bath & Body Works and Target separated by landscaped parking lots. It also has a Cinemark movie theater and a collection of car dealerships for companies like Toyota and Tesla. Its range of chain restaurants includes Chick-Fil-A and Olive Garden. For lighter crowds, shoppers can head to Redwood Plaza for groceries at Safeway and fast food at In-N-Out Burger.Blue Rock Springs Golf Club and other nearby recreation areas
There are no parks within neighborhood bounds, but the disc golf course at Hanns Park awaits on the other side of Redwood Parkway. Hunter Ranch is also close to Blue Rock Springs Golf Club and Northgate Park, which has a playground encircled by a walking path. Anglers can go fishing in the nearby Napa River or Carquinez Strait: “People fish for stripers or salmon in June or July,” says Luke George, a Bay Area resident since 2012 who has worked in Vallejo. Some locals drive up to Lake Berryessa, a 2,000-acre nature reserve 45 miles north. “Lake Berryessa is a big body of water where people go for fishing and summer recreation,” says Noble Griswold, Broker at Realty World and 40-year Vallejo resident. Vallejo gets hot in the summer, so jet skiing and tubing on the lake provide ways to cool off.Across the Interstate from Six Flags
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is directly on the other side of I-80. It offers roller coaster rides and up-close encounters with wild animals. Solano County Fairgrounds is also minutes away. The county fair brings carnival rides and games to the area every summer.Walking or biking to the store
From Redwood Parkway, drivers can hook onto Interstate 80, which runs north-south through Vallejo. Oakland International Airport is about 38 miles south down I-80. The neighborhood has a few city bus stops; routes lead to Vallejo Transit Center and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Emergency medical care is also available at Sutter Solano Medical Center, about 3 miles west. Residents near the two shopping centers can walk or bike there; Ascot, Redwood and Turner Parkway have bike lanes.
