Valley Falls has grown from textile roots to an expanding suburb of Spartanburg
Valley Falls, located between Spartanburg and Boiling Springs, industrialized in the 1850s, with the Valley Falls Manufacturing Company establishing a textile mill along Lawson’s Fork Creek. Industry left the community in the 1990s. Pam Harrison, a Realtor with Keller Williams, who has been selling in Upstate South Carolina for over 25 years, says this area is now mostly a bedroom community of 8,000 taking advantage of its proximity to Boiling Springs and Spartanburg.

Newer neighborhoods with HOAs present
The median home price in Valley Falls is $280,000, lower than the national and state medians. Homes include ranch styles, bungalows and New Traditionals. The community is a mix of older and new properties, with inventory completed in 2025. Harrison notes that HOAs oversee some areas of Valley Falls, while gated communities with higher-priced properties are also present.

A mile-long portion of the 500-mile Palmetto Trail runs near the USC Upstate campus, primarily along Lawson’s Fork Creek. The Milliken Arboretum, just south of Valley Falls, contains over 300 acres of botanical gardens and has ponds, trails and green spaces. Parks to the north of Valley Falls include Va-Du-Mar MacMillan Park. Located in Boiling Springs, the park has a disc golf course, pickleball courts and soccer fields. North Spartanburg Park has a BMX track, baseball diamonds, and an outdoor fitness area. Spartanburg’s downtown, 6 miles south of the community, has multiple events and festivals.

Dining and shopping in Boiling Springs
Most Valley Falls’ dining locations are along Boiling Springs Road and include a mix of chain and local spots. Capri’s Italian Restaurant offers pizza and pasta, along with steaks and seafood. The Grapevine Restaurant serves breakfast, sandwiches, salads and Greek dishes. Don Rey Mexican Restaurant has tacos, burritos and enchiladas. Grocery stores on Boling Springs Road include Ingles Market and Publix. Big-box stores, including Target and Walmart, are also located on Boling Springs Road.
The community has smaller health clinics, but Spartanburg Medical Center is 4 miles south.
The Grapevine offers American comfort food in Valley Falls.

Interstate and airport access
Interstate 85 runs along the southern edge of Valley Falls, with entrances on Boiling Springs Road and North Pine Street. The on-ramp to Interstate 26 are west along U.S. 176. The closest commercial airport is Greenville/Spartanburg International.
