Multi-acre lots in a secluded spot
Verdi offers all manner of homes to choose from. There are modest 1,800-square-foot homes and luxurious 6,500-square-foot mansions. Contemporary and modern designs mingle with traditional Craftsman-inspired dwellings, and there are numerous multi-acre lots for sale. A secluded area, residences have large lawns, mature trees and mountain views. Prices range from $710,000 for a three-bedroom new construction to $4 million for a four-bedroom contemporary mansion. The grass if greener here
One thing Verdi doesn’t lack is green space. Multiple parks are found in the area, along with hiking and biking trails and off-roading opportunities. Mayberry Park offers nature lovers the chance to enjoy watching wildlife, like the great horned owl, or to fish and inner tube in the Truckee River. Crystal Peak Park is also located on the Truckee River. The 56-acre park takes its name from nearby Crystal Park Mountain and has an interpretive loop trail. Idlewild Park features water play toys, a pool, and tennis, volleyball and horseshoe courts. Crissie Caughlin Park has walking and biking paths, a playground, benches, and barbecue grills.Game nights, choir and lots of sports teams
Students might attend schools like Verdi Elementary, BD Billinghurst Middle or Reno High. The elementary and middle schools earned a B-plus from Niche, while the high school earned an A. Verdi Elementary works with parents to create a caring community for children with events like Bingo Night, where the whole family can play games and win prizes. Billinghurst Middle is known for its music program, including chorus, orchestra, the Golden Strings and a jazz band. Reno High is Nevada’s fourth-best high school for athletes. It has nearly 20 sports teams and 30 clubs and organizations.Historic sites, nature trails and country clubs
A historic area, the town is proud to embrace its past. The Old Verdi School was built in 1926, two years after a fire destroyed the original building. The red brick schoolhouse still stands in central Verdi. The Verdi Community Library and Nature Center is in a beautiful forest setting behind Verdi Elementary. There’s a 20-minute nature walk around the library grounds, one block from the Truckee River. The Somersett Golf and Country Club is known for its mountain views, elevation changes and 400-foot-wide landing areas. The par 72 course opened in 2004 for members only.Foot, bike or car
There are plenty of ways to get around Verdi, although public transportation is unavailable. Some people like to walk or prefer biking. Several major roadways run through the area, including Interstate 80, Somersett Ridge Parkway and US 40.Dining out with Bigfoot
Verdi offers great access to shopping centers and retail giants like Cabela’s. There are also more local businesses scattered along Old Highway 40. Sasquatch Tavern & Grill is the smallest tavern in Verdi. Inspired by the elusive Bigfoot, the restaurant has a daily happy hour, a players club and an extensive collection of Skunk Ape memorabilia. Buenos Grill opened in 1999 and serves Mexican cuisine. There’s indoor or outdoor seating, and locals know to order at the bar. Chop 40 is a culinary newcomer serving house-made smoked meats, carne asada fries, the hangover burger, or a Sierra cowboy sandwich. Verdi Local Distillery began a decade ago with a husband-and-wife team making a variety of infused whiskeys. Outlaw Coffee Company features breakfast, lunch, cocktails, and adult coffees.
