From ranchland to historic town
Ten miles west of downtown Reno, the Belli Ranch area offers residents natural beauty and lots of room to move. It’s part of the unincorporated community of Verdi, a historic small town where public art is common, and the California border is in sight. Verdi was born with the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1867. It was a major timber-cutting area and mill town, while Belli Ranch was a cattle ranch and dairy. Historic markers can be found throughout the region, explaining the community's history and importance to Reno's development. “The ability to live in the trees by the river lets people enjoy the rural quiet while being just minutes from Reno. It’s a tightknit community close to the Truckee River, and there’s great hiking nearby,” says Lori Welsh, a Realtor with Dickson Realty who has 15 years of experience. “It’s minutes from the freeway and shopping, but you’re in the country at the base of a mountain. There are some mini-ranches and larger acre parcels, with some subdivisions are being built in Belli Ranch, too.”
Multi-acre lots in a secluded spot
Verdi offers all manner of homes to choose from. There are modest 1,800-square-foot homes and luxurious 6,500-square-foot mansions. Contemporary and modern designs mingle with traditional Craftsman-inspired dwellings, and there are numerous multi-acre lots for sale. A secluded area, residences have large lawns, mature trees and mountain views. Prices range from $710,000 for a three-bedroom new construction to $4 million for a four-bedroom contemporary mansion.
