The best of both worlds in Virginia Beach
When you think of Virginia Beach, Virginia, what comes to mind might be a resort city bustling with sunbaked tourists. But Virginia Beach’s quiet farmland community known as Pungo, tucked between North Bay and the North Landing River, is a whole different kettle of fish. “Pungo is unique because it’s a rural area where you can get a large parcel of land in the city of Virginia Beach,” says John Fox, a lifelong Virginia Beach resident, the Student Activities Administrator for Virginia Beach Middle School and a licensed real estate agent. “You can get the best of two worlds in Pungo: a farm type of living with a city type of living just minutes away. You can go strawberry picking on a farm in Pungo and then go shopping only two miles down the road.”
Traditional, coastal colonial and modern farmhouse styles
Homes in rural Pungo are typically single-family homes set on land ranging from a half-acre to 15 or more acres. Home styles vary from traditional with brick exteriors to coastal colonial and modern farmhouse, while sizes range from 1,800 to over 5,000 square feet. List prices fall between $380,000 and $1.7 million.
