Adventures in the Diablo Range

Surrounded by mountains and parks, Pine Creek has no shortage of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Several trails lead into the foothills of Mount Diablo and up to its peak. The Burma Road, named for a rugged supply route used by the Allies of World War II, cuts through seas of wildflowers and offers panoramic views of the rest of the Diablo Range. Closer to home, the Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area is home to a seasonally open pool as well as trails leading through dark-green hills. The Old Borges Ranch, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserves an Old West ranch built in 1899 and invites families to observe cattle milling about their enclosures, visit an old blacksmith shop and schoolhouse and immerse themselves in Walnut Creek’s agricultural past.
