West Lealman is a community in Florida’s Pinellas County, home to more than 16,000 people. Melissa Vivenzio, Realtor with Century 21 Real Estate Champions, has sold homes in the area for many years and says it is known for its affordability and central location. “We’re minutes from everything,” Vivenzio says. The community is 10 miles from downtown St. Petersburg and 6 miles away from multiple Gulf beaches.
The community has pockets of commercial areas spread among the residential neighborhoods. It has multiple mobile home parks, many of them clustered near 46th Avenue.

The median price in West Lealman is $216,000, about half the $418,000 median of St. Petersburg. The western and southern parts of the community are peppered with condo buildings, some of them geared for those ages 55 and older. Contemporary and ranch-style single-family homes are also available. Most lots are lined up on short blocks with narrow streets and a mix of greenery. A few neighborhoods have sidewalks, though most do not.

War Veterans’ Memorial Park has over 100 acres of greenspace and is across Boca Ciega Bay from West Lealman. It has a memorial center commemorating each military branch. Amenities include a boat ramp, playground and grills. Vivenzio says the park is a relaxing getaway. “You can get away from concrete and come to dirt,” she says. “It’s like you're in the country and don’t even realize the city is outside.” Walter Fuller Park to the south of the community has athletic fields, a pool and a recreation center. Residents are also a short drive away from the water sports and white sand of St. Pete Beach or Treasure Island.

Magnet programs and career academies at Pinellas County Schools
Children in the area are zoned for Pinellas County Schools. The district has an A-minus on Niche and offers a school choice program. Parents can submit applications for their children to attend any of the numerous magnet schools that offer programs like dual language, Montessori and STEM. The high schools also offer many career-focused academies, including engineering, architecture, culinary arts and medicine.

Lots of grocery stores and seafood restaurants to choose from
West Lealman has multiple grocery stores and retail options. The 66th Street North corridor has Sprouts Farmers Market and El Maguey, a Mexican grocery store. Walmart and ALDI are also on 66th Street. Another shopping area near the Bay and includes Target and Kohl’s. Seafood restaurants are plentiful, including local favorite Doc Ford’s, which features Caribbean-style food and sits along the waterfront. Mama G’s is a popular German bakery and coffeehouse.

Transportation and weather in West Lealman
The area is bordered to the north by Park Boulevard, a major thoroughfare that residents can take all the way west to the barrier island. Another major road is 66th Street, which runs south and meets Pasadena Avenue, leading to St. Pete Beach. Tampa is 20 miles northeast. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority buses serve the area.
West Lealman is considered at major risk from flooding, according to the First Street climate modeling website. More than 70% of properties in the area are at risk of flooding over the next 30 years. West Lealman was impacted by Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Public transportation in West Lealman is made easy by the PTSA.
