A community full of value

West Newton is a Westmoreland County borough that’s a boon for outdoor lovers — it straddles the Youghiogheny River and features a portion of the Great Allegheny Passage. But someone doesn’t have to be an outdoor enthusiast to find value in this community. In fact, this community is full of value, thanks to its relatively accessible housing prices. “You could probably get some cheaper homes there,” says local Realtor Terene Cain of River Point Realty, LLC., based in the nearby city of Washington.

A diverse array of homes

Buyers in West Newton can find options under $100,000 and prices commonly range up to the low $200,000s, though some outliers can reach around $400,000. The area features a diverse array of homes, too, built from the early to late 20th century. Houses around West Newton are organized neatly along straight-line residential blocks, and many come with a solid bit of lawn space, part of lots that span from nearly 4,000 square feet to around half an acre. A lot of West Newton’s homes are variations of the colonial and Victorian styles, and are about 1,800 square feet on average.
