Booth's convenient location between Newport News and Williamsburg
Booth has a convenient location near shopping and dining in Williamsburg and Newport News. However, Booth stands out for its proximity to several military bases, a primary employer in James City County. “We have lots of that military presence there,” says Duke Morisset, principal broker of the All Homes Real Estate Group, who has sold homes in Williamsburg for over 20 years. “It’s very close to Fort Eustis. It’s very close to the Navy base. It’s very close to the Coast Guard.” The area offers a mix of single-family homes and townhouses, all in a highly rated school district.
A mix of townhomes and single-family homes
Most residential streets in the area branch off Pocahontas Trail. Single-family homes line narrow drives, with New Traditional, colonial and ranch-style houses shaded by tall oaks and evergreens. Other well-manicured developments feature townhomes, and manufactured homes can also be found in the area. The townhouses and manufactured homes sell for $170,000 to $280,000, while single-family homes sell for $300,000 to $520,000.
Zoned to WJCC schools, including Jamestown High
The Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools district serves Booth and receives an overall A-minus grade from Niche. Students can attend James River Elementary, which gets a C-plus. James Blair Middle gets a B, and Jamestown High receives an A. In 2024, Jamestown High outpaced district and state rates for on-time graduation, with 96.5% of students graduating in four years. William & Mary, the second-oldest university in the country, is 7 miles away.
Jamestown High School has a spacious campus.

Access to nearby cities and employers, including nearby military bases
Interstate 64 runs along Booth’s northern edge. Downtown Williamsburg is 7 miles away, while Newport News’ town center is a 14-mile drive. But area employers, including military bases, are even closer. The Fort Eustis Army base and Yorktown Naval Weapons Station are each 6 miles from the neighborhood. Though most residents own cars, the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority serves the area with bus routes. Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg has the closest emergency room, 5 miles away. Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is 10 miles away but only has one commercial route to Charlotte; residents more often travel roughly 40 miles to Norfolk International Airport for flights.
Just west of Bayside, Norfolk International Airport offers regional and international flights.
The local WATA bus service is available in York Terrace.

Businesses along Pocahontas Trail or in nearby cities
Businesses in Booth are scattered along Pocahontas Trail. Mi Casa Latin Restaurant serves Central and South American favorites in a small strip mall next to a Citgo gas station and convenience store. However, residents mainly head towards either of the nearby cities for shopping and dining. “They have options,” Morisset says. “If they want more variety, they can go toward the Newport News area. If they want dining and all that good stuff, they can stay within Williamsburg.” Food Lion is roughly 5 miles away in Williamsburg. Plenty of restaurants, including fast-food and sit-down options, are 3 miles away on Pocahontas Trail, in and around the Market Place Shops Shopping Center. A larger selection of stores can be found at shopping centers in the Denbigh neighborhood of Newport News, roughly 10 miles away.
Nearby attractions include historic sites and Colonial Williamsburg
Historic sites in Booth include Carter’s Grove, an 18th-century estate on roughly 750 acres. The grounds were once open to the public, but the property is now privately owned. Nearby Lee Hall Mansion and Historic Endview offer tours of their respective historic homes, each less than 5 miles away in Newport News. Seven miles in the other direction, Colonial Williamsburg is a restored living history exhibit. While specific attractions require a ticket, the grounds are open for locals to walk around and explore. The popular Busch Gardens Williamsburg theme park is 4 miles from Booth and is open year-round, including special events for Halloween and Christmas. “A perk for that area is that you’re a few miles from Busch Gardens, which is a major attraction,” Morisset says. “You don’t have to go far.”
