Living along the historic 11th Street Bridge

Cross on over to 11th Street Bridge, a neighborhood with plenty of attached living options and local charm to spare. “I’ve had a lot of interest in this area because it’s close to bus services and other transport so it’s easy to get to the city,” says Dianne Platt, a local Realtor with Patterson Schwartz Real Estate. “It’s a mostly residential area filled with town homes but there is a park in walking distance so it's a great neighborhood for kids.”

The community is named for the bridge spanning Brandywine Creek, which was first built in the 1860s as a wooden drawbridge and later replaced with a steel version. When a railway was built in the early 1900s, the first developers came to the area to build simple workers’ housing, and the neighborhood was born.

Brick rowhomes and town houses with walkable sidewalks

Established brick rowhomes and newer town houses range in price from $95,000 to $125,000. Homes were built between the early 1900s and the early 2000s. Attached homes and small lots encourage residents to get to know their neighbors, while sidewalks highlight the walkability of the area and allow joggers and dog walkers to enjoy some fresh air. Garages provide additional convenience.
