GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Local businesses are awful. They get better the closer you get to Litchfield, but Winsted's local businesses are literally: Restaurant/Food Stores and Antique shops. That's it. And yet more and more restaurants keep opening up. This town uffers so much from lack of diversity. It should be a booming college town and yet noone comes here to spend money because college kids could care less about antique china (and a not small portion of store owners are NOT friendly either mind you!).

Winsted is a nice, quiet town. Stores are close by and the people are friendly. It does lack access to big name stores or restaurants, but there are some smaller shops that may have what you need. Stores and other businesses in the area do close kind of early though.

This town does not have a lot to do for the 20 and under crowd. Yes, there is a town fair that comes around in August with a couple of restaurants and a lake to hang out at, but there is not much beyond that. Businesses are continuing to shut down (other than the brewery opening up soon which doesn't allow 21 and under) and taxes are going up along with the rest of the state. Drug deals happen everywhere and so is the littering. I hope this town turns around soon, or it's going to go to keep going downhill.
