Woodmere's humble origins as a stop on the underground railroad eventually created a path for Samuel S. It's definitely a sellers' market," Jelk says. "It's a little challenging for buyers right now." However, that hasn't stopped people interested in Woodmere from being actively looking. The community has a mix of smaller lots here with price tags ranging from $197,000 to more acres for $860,000.
The Orange City School District is another huge draw to the area for families with children, according to Jelk. Younger students can attend Moreland Hills Elementary School, which has received an A from Niche. Public education continues down the street from the elementary school at Brady Middle School. Students later graduate from Orange High School on Chagrin Boulevard. According to Niche, 92% of students receive their diploma in the traditional four years. Cuyahoga Community College, roughly seven minutes from the neighborhood, offered continued educational opportunities.
It isn't all suburban sprawl in Woodmere. In fact, two major open-air malls exist. Located on the southwest of the village, Pinecrest is home to Urban Outfitters, Pottery Barn and REI. To the north, Eton Chagrin Boulevard has a diverse portfolio of businesses, including Apple, Lulu Lemon and The North Face. Shopping isn't the only thing that residents can do here. Tuck into Taza for a taste of their signature Lebanese dishes or Paladar Latin Kitchen for flavors from the south of the border paired with a drink from their rum bar. For dinner and a show, settle into Silverspot Cinema and get lost in the magic of the moving pictures.
Bring your friends together for a round of golf at the Beechmont Country Club, designed by Stanley Thompson, a renowned Canadian course architect. The 18-hole course offers hours of entertainment woven through the mature beech trees that give the club its name. You'll play on the same course as former PGA Tournament winners and US Open Qualifiers. And if golfing isn’t your thing, your membership will afford you a lot more, including access to the tennis courts, fitness center and onsite dining.
Grocery shopping can be highly convenient with the aid of the recently opened Whole Foods on Wall Street and Trader Joe's on Chagrin Boulevard, located on RTA transit routes.
Woodmere is no longer a community of farmers and dirt roads, but that doesn't mean it's lost any of its charms. You'll have large lot sizes, a highly decorated school system and access to two commercial sectors to satisfy all your potential needs.
