A Dallas County community in a historic, country setting

Positioned along Dallas County’s northern edge, the small city of Woodward has historic buildings that recall its coal-mining history, high-mark schools and midwestern charm in a quiet, rural setting. “This is a bedroom community with a small-town feel. There is only one school district, four or five local businesses on Main Street and bike trails,” says Wayde Burkhart, associate broker at Realty One Group Impact with 8 years of experience.

Primarily comprised of bungalows and ranch-style homes, properties in Woodward were built between the 1900s and the 1950s. Houses are spread out on sizeable lawns, and thick trees stand alongside narrow, country roads. 100-year-old properties that are around 1,000 to 1,500 square feet can list for about $100,00 to $150,000, while recent developments with three or four bedrooms are priced between $250,000 and $450,000. “Homes here are mostly ranch-style homes, and depending on square footage, properties can be between $130,000 and $425,000,” adds Burkhart. “New constructions continue to drive up the area’s home value.”
