Second Empire, Victorian and Colonial Revival houses with colorful coats of paint sit beside apartment buildings and multifamily properties, accommodating the roughly 90% of residents who rent. “Worcester is known for its triple-deckers,” Zamarro says. “It’s three units stacked right on top of each other.” Sidewalks line the streets, pine and maple trees shade dog walkers and cars are parked on the curb. Single-family homes can cost between $350,000 and $500,000, while multifamily investments run in the $400,000 to $1.6 million range, depending on the property's size, age and condition.
