A comfortable community

Wynnewood is an unincorporated suburban community dating back to 1691 that is located on the historic Philadelphia Main Line. Named for the first Speaker of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, Dr. Thomas Wynne, Wynnewood has also been home to many famous names, including Patti LaBelle, Joan Jett, and the late Kobe Bryant. “Wynnewood is in the top school district in the state,” says Jessa Eskin, a real estate agent with Compass, who grew up in the area. “And, because it is so close to Center City, there are a lot of people here who work in the city but don’t want to live there. From Wynnewood, they have an easy commute.”

Manicured lawns and stone homes

“Wynnewood’s real estate market is crazy hot. Homes are only on the market for two to four days,” says Eskin. Several of Wynnewood’s neighborhoods feature classic colonial and Federal-style homes, many with beautiful stonework and colorful shutters. In most areas, sidewalks meander past well-maintained yards of manicured lawns and custom landscaping. While the community consists mainly of detached and some semi-detached single-family homes, there are also a handful of apartment buildings and condominiums in the Penn Wynn area. Homebuyers should expect to pay between $400,000 for a three-bedroom twin home and $2.1 million for a six-bedroom stone colonial. Condominiums can run between $130,000 and $195,000.
