Forest Park Houses for Sale

Forest Park is a modest residential neighborhood on Muncie’s south side. After World War II, the community struggled as factories began to close. While the neighborhood has its challenges, residents worked with Building Better Neighborhoods and Studio 165+, a Ball State University student-led design firm, to create a new identity that represented the community’s resiliency and unity. Now, new signage welcomes residents and visitors to the neighborhood with an emblem that depicts a home with a fireplace within the negative space of two oak leaves — a symbol of Forest Park’s natural surroundings and steadfastness. The gridded streets are dotted with towering oak trees and lined with cottages, Craftsman-inspired and ranch-style homes. Driveways and street parking are common here, but some houses have detached garages. Most residents own their homes, but the neighborhood also has a sizable rental market. Fixer-uppers can cost between $20,000 and $70,000, while move-in ready homes can range from $70,000 to $125,000.
