Rogers Manor Park and Deemers Beach
On the other side of I-295, families and individuals visit the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center to borrow books and attend community classes and other events. In the namesake Collins Park and nearby Rogers Manor Park, folks bring their children and dogs to enjoy the playgrounds and open green surrounded by trees. Veterans Memorial Park in the community also draws to its plaza and nature grove that features tributes and commemorations to people who served in the armed forces. The downtown area is also renowned for outdoor recreation because of its proximity to the water. At New Castle Battery Park, you can cast a line on the pier or enjoy lunch while appreciating waterfront views. From the park, a secluded trail parallels the river to Deemers Beach, a rocky strip popular among anglers and cyclists.

Team-driven teaching in school district
Like other schools in the Colonial School District, New Castle Elementary is known for its team-driven teaching approach, called "the Power of We." Teachers structure their lessons through a non-hierarchical system to provide students with innovative learning pathways, access and opportunity. Niche gives the elementary school a C-plus rating. At the secondary level, Niche gives Calvin R. McCullough Middle School a C rating and William Penn High School a B.Separation Day
Settlers founded New Castle in 1651 and later made it the capital of the Delaware colony about a decade later. In June each year, the city celebrates Separation Day with parades, festival events and a fireworks show to recognize when Delaware split from Pennsylvania to declare its independence from the British.
