Twin homes in walking distance to local shops and public spaces
For folks looking for all the diverse cuisine and community spaces of University City, but at a lower cost, “Haddington is the place that comes next,” says Leron Grossman, a local real estate broker at Victory Real Estate, LLC. Well-maintained and affordable rowhomes are just a short walk from corner stores, community spaces and excellent Philadelphia schools. The community is located along the same Southeastern Philadelphia Transportation Authority line as University City, so locals can quickly get around the city from this West Philadelphia perch.

Affordable twin and row homes in Haddington
Every day locals walk down wide sidewalks lined with small businesses, intermingled with rows of Haddington’s early 20th century residences. The local real estate market predominantly features row and twin houses with design touches like bay windows and covered front porches. Home prices may vary depending on proximity to commercial thoroughfares. Still, the affordability here is undeniable, according to local realtor Leron Grossman. “It’s rare to find something around $100,000 in Philadelphia,” Grossman says. For example, it is common to find a three-bedroom row house for $73,000 or a two-bedroom twin for $98,000, both sold in the last three years. Prices tend to increase the closer homes are to Market Street and Vine Street, ranging as high as $190,000 for a four-bedroom row house.

Seafood boil and other flavorful Cajun fare can be found at Soul by the Sea. Local realtor Leron Grossman recommends Lottie’s Kitchen for quick American fare like wraps and cheesesteaks. The dishes at Hadramout, a local Yemeni restaurant, are regarded by Grossman as “as close to the original thing as I’ve experienced.”

The crime in this area is bad. Since people in this area are unemployed they feel the urge to have to go out and sell drugs, of rob people to make their income. The police and detectives investigate for one day, then give up on the case after that. The neighborhood would be better of solving cases ourselves. In order to prevent crimes we need better police officers, programs to get people on the streets working, etc.

The greatest attractions in this area are: the Philadelphia Zoo, the Mann Music Center, The Please Touch Museum and Fairmount Park. They are all 18 to 20 blocks away. That's the happening area. My location is best known for shopping. There are various in door retail stores as well as street vendors. Anything you need from furniture to used appliances to shoes and pets, this is your one stop shopping place.

The area is generally nice. People will not bother you as long as you don't bother them, and are genuinely friendly. It is quiet, which is nice on spring days when you need to study. Corner stores sell hot and cold food, and a plethora of household items. Overall, the area is a great spot for one person or a small family.
