Welcome to 453 E Adams, a beautifully preserved 1907 home with exquisite woodwork. 453 E Adams is a historical monument that used to be used as a popular tea parlor for many years. This elegant craftsman mission revival was home to Effie's Tea Parlor which served a variety of teas, dainty sandwiches, little sweets, and many memories! This was a house with connections; the first black city councilman would stop by often, politicians, big bands, mayors and more used to frequent this home.

453 E Adams is on the market publicly for the first time ever. This home was built in 1904 by architect Thornton Fitzhugh, Thornton built the home for his sisters. This home cost $1800 to build back in the day, when the average wage was $.35 cents an hour.

The story begins in 1936, when Dr. Etta Gray bought the home from one of the architects sisters! The back rooms were converted into a clinic for poor patients. Gray never lived in the home, everyone thought the caretakers owned the home. In the 40's & 50's they used to have weekend parties. The caretakers purchased the house in 1970 for $17,500 from Dr. Grays estate when she died shy of her 90th birthday.
