About Anna
Susan Baker recently joined Sotheby’s International Realty and is partnering with Melinda Nix in her early days at the company.
After a long career in investment banking working with Goldman Sachs & Co., Lehman Brothers, and First Boston, Susan retired from finance and turned her life experience to a long “second career” in active board service, primarily to the arts. She has taken a hands-on and humanistic yet rigorously strategic approach to the institutional challenges of the many cultural and community organizations she has served. Over the years, Susan has been chair of New York City Opera and MasterVoices and has served on the executive committees/boards of the Animal Medical Center, the School of American Ballet, the Spoleto Festival, the American Friends of Les Arts Florissants, Lincoln Center and BAM, among others. Her relentlessly future-facing and business-oriented approach to solving problems has assisted these organizations to successfully negotiate their paths through the potentially ruinous effects on the arts of 9/11, the financial market crisis of 2008, and the pandemic. She brings her years of attentive client orientation and creative deal-making and problem-solving to her career in real estate.
Susan lives in Manhattan and Lenox, Massachusetts with her husband Michael Lynch and several beloved creatures. She enjoys the company of friends, opera, travel, and the arts. One of her secret passions over the years has been residential real estate which she has approached from many perspectives—as buyer, seller, landlord, builder, tax shelter syndicator, and designer!
