About Barbara Karen
“I’ve known since I was 12 years old that I wanted to be a REALTOR®,” says Karen Elmir, a record-breaking Realtor Associate. “I’m naturally a people person, I love numbers and business, so I have always felt like real estate was the exact right fit for me. I got my license right when I turned 18,” she continues.
A decade has passed since that fateful day, and Karen has most certainly made every moment count. She now leads her own team – The Elmir Group – and is growing her firm from the rock-solid relationships she has made throughout the South Florida market.
Fluent in English, Spanish, and Arabic, Karen spent her early years establishing a reputation as a keyed-in professional with her finger on the pulse of the market, listening to what people needed and growing a strong referral network with colleagues. Her hard work most definitely paid off as buyers and other real estate professionals took notice of her dedication and tireless work ethic – eventually landing her a referral to the Sales Manager of Epic Residences during its pre-construction sales drive and earning her a position on the development sales team.
Working in the luxury condominium development market was a seamless transition for Karen. She became the top producer for Epic, and within just three years of entering the real estate field, she facilitated a 20-unit bulk sale in the building which also broke all previous price per square foot records.
A couple of years later, after contributing to the full sell out of Epic, Karen turned in similar
performances at Grove at Grand Bay. She again broke records by selling the lower penthouse (pre-construction) for a staggering $1,300 per square foot.
“Although Karen clearly has expertise in development projects in Miami’s hot real estate market,
she also works in general real estate, where nearly all of her clients come from referrals, or return to her as repeat clients. She attributes the returning clientele to the straightforward, trustworthy way she works. “I’m honest, I’m a hard worker, and I do not overpromise,” she explains. “When I say something will happen, it happens. To me my clients are not just clients, they are friends, and I treat the people buying a $100,000 property the same way I treat someone buying a $10 Million property. I answer every email within minutes – even if I have to give someone bad news, such as a delay.
I provide excellent communication, no matter what,” she says.
With such a firm grasp on the service she provides, it is no surprise that Karen’s client base includes everyone from A-list actors to Grammy winning musicians. “I believe you need to spend money to make money, so I also spend a lot of money on marketing,” she says. From e-flyers to residents of the luxury condominiums she farms, to advertising in glossy luxury monthlies, Karen spares no expense when it comes to getting a property sold, and her thriving business confirms her approach is profoundly effective.
Even with so much success so early in her career, Karen still feels there is much left for her to achieve, “I am invested in real estate 100%, no matter what. Through the good markets and the bad, I’ll be here. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I hope to learn to work smarter, not necessarily harder, to be able to help anyone around me who needs my help. I plan to partner up with
likeminded professionals in the future, because I believe that teamwork is crucial to being able to produce more. But it will have to be someone whose strengths compliment mine. I need to be out there spending my time working with people, instead of working in front of the computer, so I have to find the right person. With that in place, I honestly believe the sky is the limit on what I can bring to the South Florida market – and even the world.”
