Brian Huskie values integrity, hard work, and especially service. He served as an infantryman in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and he has served as an educator in Albany for over a decade. It was as a teacher that Brian observed how little students knew (or were taught) about money: debt (especially student loans), budgeting, and of course, home ownership. Brian became passionate about guiding young people towards making wise financial decisions. It was astounding to Brian how easily an eighteen- or nineteen-year-old could go so deeply into tremendous debt, radically altering the trajectory of their life and their opportunities, that it became his mission to, whenever possible, talk earnestly and openly about money with students.
These conversations inevitably turned to home ownership, and Brian would share with students his deeply held belief that the American Dream is irrevocably tied to home ownership. He also understands that, while there is nothing like the freedom that comes with home ownership, purchasing a home is also the largest investment that most people will make in their lifetimes. Brian’s passion for the future financial prosperity of his students, as well as his belief in freedom and property, has led him to a career as a real estate agent, where he brings that same spirit of service that has guided him his whole life.
