Chad is a native Charlottean. Born at Presbyterian hospital in Charlotte in 1970, Chad spent his entire childhood growing up in south Charlotte, where he attended Charlotte Latin School. Upon graduating in 1988, Chad attended Yale University where he graduated after just three years with a B.S. in physics. Chad then went on to obtain a J.D. with honors from UNC Chapel Hill in 1994, where he served as an articles editor on a law journal. Since 1994, Chad has been practicing intellectual property law in Charlotte. Chad is a licensed attorney in North Carolina and he is registered as a patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Chad serves as a managing partner at the law firm he established in 2004. Chad also has a software company that he co-founded in 2009 and a patent brokerage company that he started in 2018. A prolific inventor, Chad has seventeen patents to his name. Chad obtained his N.C. real estate license on July 1, 2020, and he serves on the Education Advisory Group of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association. Before affiliating with Keller Williams in September of 2021, Chad worked on three family residential real estate transactions totaling $2.2 million in sales. Chad also was the first to successfully make use the Real Property Marketable Title Act to void restrictive covenants applicable to a Charlotte neighborhood, winning on appeal in 2021 at the N.C.
